Brilliant Books

Brilliant Books was a school assignment where we were each assigned a Ghent-based artist and asked to design a book inspired by their work. We got Eddy De Buf.

Because Eddy's practice is very diverse, we created a series of books, each dedicated to a different project. The keyword "connecting" guided the concept, leading to a map that links all the projects together and allows the reader to explore the books in different orders. This network of connections inspired the title Interlinked.

Materiality plays an important role in the design. A wooden base forms the foundation of the book, symbolizing Eddy as the base of his work, with his biography printed directly onto the wood. The books are wrapped in cotton fabric, which contains the printed map connecting the projects. The book measures 40 x 50 cm, reflecting the frame size Eddy often works within when painting.
